Pitcher Perfect: The 3 Summer Cocktails You Need to Make!

With summer in full swing and the Texas heat blaring, there is nothing more refreshing than a delicious cocktail to cool you down. Whether you’re lounging by the pool or looking for a drink after a long day, these recipes will be sure to hit the spot. Here are 3 summer cocktails that you need to try!

Campari Sangria
Not only is the flavor amazing, but this sangria is as refreshing as it is beautiful.

What you need:

  • 1 ½ cups orange juice
  • ¾ cup Campari
  • ½ cup Cointreau (or Grand Marnier)
  • ¼ cup freshly squeezed lemon Juice
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 bottle of dry rosé
  • Ice
  • Club soda (optional)

Garnish:

  • 1 orange slice
  • 1 lemon slice
  • 6 strawberries sliced

Instructions:

  1. In a large pitcher, combine the orange juice, Campari, Cointreau, and lemon juice. Stir in the honey.
  2. Add the rosé and fruit slices. Mix to combine. Refrigerate for up to 2 hours. Serve over ice.

Watermelon Basil Martini
Nothing screams summer like fresh watermelon and basil!

What you need:

  • 3 cups fresh watermelon
  • 6 large basil leaves
  • 7.5 ounces vodka
  • 3 ounce St. Germain Liqueur

Garnish:

  • Watermelon slice
  • Basil leaf

Instructions:

  1. In a glass muddle the watermelon and basil leaves. Once all the juice is released, strain through a sieve.
  2. Fill a large pitcher with ice, and add in the watermelon basil juice, vodka, and St. Germain. Stir and serve in martini glass. Garnish and enjoy!

Frozen Old Fashioned
A twist on a classic cocktail that will be sure to cool you down on a hot summer night.

What you need:

  • 6 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups bourbon
  • 12 ounces frozen orange juice concentrate
  • 2 tablespoons Maraschino cherry juice (Luxardo cherries also recommended)
  • ¼ cup bitters

Garnish:

  • Sprite
  • 1 orange slice
  • 1 Maraschino or Luxardo cherry

Instructions:

  1. Add the water and sugar to a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Once dissolved, allow the mixture to cool completely.
  2. Combine the bourbon, orange juice concentrate, cherry juice, and bitters into a freezer-safe dish. Freeze the mixture for 12 hours.
  3. To serve, place about ¾ cup of the Old Fashioned mixture in a glass. Top with about ¼ cup of sprite. Garnish with 1 orange slice and a cherry.
