Power Picks: Brands We Love

Brands are building stronger connections with consumers by engaging with their audience on social media, taking a stand on issues and becoming more transparent in their business practices. According to a recent study, 84% of U.S. adults are loyal to retailers and 82% are loyal to product-brands. Here at The Power Group, we know what we like! Check out our team’s #PowerPicks of the brands we love.

I love Drunk Elephant not only for the amazing products (the D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Serum is the bomb) but also for the brand’s marketing strategy! The “skinfluencers” are real customers that share their experience and results with the products on social media. Drunk Elephant frequently reposts these photos on Instagram, encouraging a word-of-mouth marketing strategy. Trust is essential for every skincare brand and I think Drunk Elephant does a great job of listening and engaging with customers organically.

I cannot get enough of ALO Yoga! Throughout shelter in place, I have bought a few of their pieces for workouts and they are some of the most comfortable items in my closet. I love their color selection (lots of exotic neutrals), their soft but structured fabric and their unique sets! I would highly recommend their Vapor fabric and biker shorts.

One of my favorite brands since middle school has been Chick-fil-A. The food and service is always A+. I seriously don’t think I have ever been there and not been greeted by the most friendly faces or received high-quality, hot and fresh food! I find myself keeping up with Chick-fil-A’s new menu items and marketing promotions. I am loyal to the brand. I also admire the choice of being closed on Sunday’s and allowing team members to rest and worship if they wish. The fast-food chain could make so much more money if they were open every day, however, they stay true to their beliefs and traditions and value this over additional revenue. Also, who doesn’t love their waffle fries and a spicy chicken sandwich!

I have been a Glossier gal since day one. My obsession started with Boy Brow and only grew from there. I think half of my makeup routine consists of Glossier products at this point – I love Futuredew as a glowy primer, Cloud Paint as a natural cream blush, the Generation G lipstick for a subtle pop of color and Haloscope for a highlighter or cream eye shadow. The serums are great too, I have used the Super Glow serum for brightening and vitamin C. Glossier’s founder and CEO Emily Weiss is also a great female entrepreneur to follow – a lot of people don’t know that she actually made an appearance on The Hills back in the day when she was an intern at Teen Vogue.

I received my first Hobo crossbody as a gift when I was in junior high, and that was when I fell in love with Hobo bags! Hobo provides a wide range of handbags, wallets, totes, backpacks and clutches that are perfect for everyday use. In my opinion, a high-quality leather bag is a perfect accessory to any casual outfit. Hobo bags can be expensive, but you’re paying for quality leather that lasts for years and gets better with age. Hobo also regularly offers promotions and you can find discounted hobo bags at Nordstrom Rack as well.

Since the pandemic began, I have done more online shopping than I would like to admit. A brand that I continue to purchase is Outdoor Voices. Not only is their athleisure super comfortable, but it’s also really cute! I am guilty of purchasing a few leggings, skorts and workout dresses. I like to support Texas-based brands when I can (Outdoor Voices is headquartered in Austin), and I really admire how they showcase models of all shapes, sizes and colors on their advertisements and on social media. The brand is known for promoting and encouraging active lifestyles and has offered free virtual workout classes since March.

One brand that I am a major diehard for is Tula Skincare. I originally found Tula in one of my quarterly FabFitFun boxes when they included a full-sized facial cleanser! Since then, I have adopted a number of their products into my skincare routine and truly, can’t say that I have tried one that I haven’t loved. Their products are made with their consumers in mind, often taking into account the exact feedback they receive in order to develop the perfect solutions that their customers are asking for. Not only are their products great, but the brand consistently promotes product and skincare education on their social channels as well as female empowerment that gives me a burst of motivation each day! Cannot recommend this brand enough!

I’ve been obsessing over my Ouai hair products recently! I started using them at the beginning of quarantine and have seen such a noticeable difference in how my hair looks and feels. Not only do they have traditional hair care products like shampoo and conditioner, but also supplements you can take every day to strengthen from within! I have loved every purchase and will continue to grow my collection because the results are worth it.

One of my favorite brands that I have been obsessed with as of late has been GOOP, owned by Gwenyth Paltrow. I tried the GOOPGENE’S all in one nourishing cream this summer and it is probably one of the best skincare products I have used in all honesty. I have used so many different skincare products and somehow it never worked out for me. It’s worth the hype and the price. I love that the brand overall is all-natural, supports health and mental wellness, is eco-friendly. GOOP is not just a beauty brand but also a lifestyle brand. It began as a weekly newsletter and grew to health and wellness. I found her brand to be absolutely genuine which is and it’s definitely going to stay my favorite in the long run!

I know I’m probably extremely late to the game but I just recently discovered Tula and I’m obsessed! Specifically their Rose Glow & Get It eye balm. While 2020 has probably made everyone self reflect at one point or another, one of my reflections this year has been on my skin game. I am determined to step it up and find cleaner products for my skin, so when I stumbled upon Tula, I was immediately hooked. I love that not only are the products packed with probiotics, but they have superfoods in them too (which is basically speaking my love language!). I love how clean the products are and I’ll definitely be exploring more of them in the future. But for now, everyone needs to pick up the eye balm stat to start experiencing some seriously glowing skin!
