Power Picks: Favorite Cocktails in Dallas

Dallas is full of amazing restaurants and bars. This week our team rounded up a quick list of our favorite cocktails and happy hours around town! Be sure to check out the places listed below and show them some support. Bonus points if they offer to-go cocktails!

HG Sply’s Strawberry Smash features strawberry pink peppercorn-infused gin, mint and lemon and it is to die for! It’s the perfect refreshing cocktail for any time of year and it tastes even better on the restaurant’s rooftop that overlooks the skyline. HG Sply recently introduced a Cranberry Smash which I’ve yet to try, but intend to very soon! All of the Smashes are only $6 during happy hour each weekday from 3 to 6 p.m.

My first visit to Tejas in the Bishop Arts District was nothing short of amazing. The Rocks Marg is a simple mix of tequila, lime and agave, and one of the best I’ve had in awhile! The drink is $10 and a perfect refresher to go with any menu item. Not to mention the restaurant itself is very aesthetically pleasing with “Tejas Forever” written in neon letters above the bar. Love this place!

One of my favorite cocktails at the moment is the Bleu and Gold martini from Hudson House. I love a good dirty martini and the Bleu and Gold is one of the best. It is made with vodka, olive juice, bleu cheese salt and housemade bleu cheese olives. This martini is half price ($6) during Hudson House’s famous happy hour every day from 3 to 6 p.m.

I love a good sangria and I’ve tried a lot of sangrias from various restaurants and bars around town. My favorite to this day is from Fireside Pies! The Red Passion Sangria is made with lambrusco, brandy, passion fruit, orange and bitters. The drink is only $10, but if you’re not a sangria fan, Fireside Pies has some great other hand-crafted cocktails you should check out when you get a chance.

One of my favorite cocktails around Dallas is the Summer Beer from Katy Trail Ice House. The drink consists of Blue Moon, Tito’s Vodka and cane sugar lemonade. It is so refreshing and pairs perfectly with some cheese fries. It is best enjoyed on a 70-degree day with a view of all the cute dogs walking the trail!

Sommer
When it comes to cocktails, I tend to go for the most sugar-filled and colorful drinks on the menu. Sticking with this trend, the Midnight Unicorn from Sky Blossom is my favorite cocktail in Dallas. The Midnight Unicorn tastes like a more citrusy Texas Mule, but looks ombré pink and has a colorful candy on top. The drink is $10, but guests can receive $2 off cocktails all day on Tuesdays.

If I had to choose my favorite cocktail, I’d pick the frozen strawberry margarita from Chuy’s. Even during the cold weather leading up to the winter storm, I craved this refreshing strawberry drink. You can’t go wrong with any order from Chuy’s, but the strawberry margarita is my go-to no matter what I order as my entree!

Does wine qualify as a cocktail? If I am going out for drinks, my go-to would almost always be a glass of wine, but if I had to choose a cocktail, I would go with a martini! I love a good martini because it is refreshing without leaving you feeling too heavy after you finish it. The colder the better when it comes to martinis so I have to say my favorite place to grab one in Dallas would be Hudson House because they are known for the coldest martinis in Dallas! Can’t go wrong with that. BONUS: HH offers happy hour every day where all martinis are half-off!

Margaritas are my jam. I love Las Palmas classic frozen marg as well as the legendary Mambo Taxi from Mi Cocina. Las Palmas offers a happy hour every single day! Another favorite cocktail of mine is the espresso martini. Lounge31 and Leeela’s serve the best in town! If you can make your way to Leela’s, I definitely recommend checking out ABV upstairs for cocktails as well!
