Power Picks: Self-Care Sunday Skincare

Sundays were made for rest and relaxation. It’s the best day to reflect on the past week while getting ready for the week to come. The term ‘self-care Sunday’ has been taken to a new level with the recent Coronavirus pandemic. Now that you have the time, you should really treat yourself – especially your skin! Our team has a few favorite skincare items we love to treat our face to on #SelfCareSunday. So sit back, relax and give yourself an at-home facial with these tried and true face masks! PS – they can all be ordered online!

Kortni

I love a good Self-care Sunday, especially after a stressful work week! My go-to mask is Korres’ Wild Rose Night-Brightening Sleeping Facial. This product is actually an overnight mask, not one that has to be washed off after 20 minutes. It goes on like a heavier night cream and leaves my face feeling plump and softer than ever in the morning. The texture is very nice and creamy with a light rose scent. It also gets bonus points from me for being only $48! I’ve gone through multiple bottles now. If you use the mask once to twice a week, it lasts around 4 months.

The best way to unwind and reset for the upcoming week is some skin TLC! I love using the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleep Mask for a radiance boost. This mask smells like a watermelon Jolly Rancher and I love putting it on and letting it soak in overnight. Not only do I wake up to fresh, smooth glowy skin, but I get to fall asleep to the smell of my favorite fruit! This mask comes in sheet and jar form but I prefer the jar because you get more bang for your buck.

Once I find a product that works for my skin and wallet, I stick with it. Why fix it if it ain’t broken? I have several Self-Care Sunday products that I use on rotation, but there are two masks repeated in my routine the most. I always start with Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Cleansing Pore Mask to detoxify my face from a busy week. Then I finish with a product that fellow #PowerPlayer Kortni gave me for my birthday that I am obsessed with! It is the Farmhouse Fresh Soothing Avocado Hydration Mask to give my skin some much-needed glow and hydration. I like to use these consecutively to rescue my skin from the week prior and prepare it for the one ahead.

Julia

I have combination skin, so I like to alternate between detoxifying and hydrating masks to find a balance. Like Catherine, I also love Kiehl’s Rare Earth Deep Cleansing Pore Mask. Kiehl’s products are amazing and you can typically find smaller sizes to test out the potion before committing to the full-size. If my face is particularly dry on a Self-Care Sunday, I bring out Farmhouse Fresh’s Sundae Best Chocolate Softening Mask. Not only does it smell just like chocolate, it was named as one of USA Today’s best gifts for chocolate lovers. With this mask you get the best of both worlds!

I am the kind of person who loves to try new things! I don’t have super sensitive skin so that allows me to experiment a little bit with different facial treatments, including masks. My FabFitFun subscription box ensures I get to try new things quarterly and from there, I stick to what I like best. I have never been the biggest fan of sheet masks but I love to try different types of clay masks that help clear out my pores or a nice exfoliating mask that gets rid of all the dead skin cells. My most recent obsession is with the Summer Fridays exfoliating Overtime Mask followed by their hydrating Jet Lag Mask to smooth out my skin. This combo makes for a double whammy that will leave your skin both clear and smooth.

As someone with dry, sensitive skin I have found that the more natural the product, the better. This is why when I saw people raving about Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay I added it to my Prime cart immediately! The face mask comes in powder form and requires you to add apple cider vinegar and water until it makes an army-green paste. I like to put it all over my face and neck for 20 minutes to relax before the week ahead. I also do an additional spot treatment as needed for stubborn acne. They say this is made from the same clay Cleopatra used to keep her youthful appearance. Well, if it’s good enough for a Queen, it’s certainly good enough for me!

Face masks are one thing that you can truly never have enough of! I have several that I constantly find myself reaching for, the first being Kiehl’s Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque. I love the smell of this mask, and it always leaves my skin feeling soft and radiant. Years ago I worked at a dermatologist’s office, and one of the aestheticians turned me onto Eminence’s Blueberry Detox Firming Peel. This peel is applied like a mask and really heats up the skin to let you know it’s working! It has a number of benefits, the best of which is the rosy, dewy glow you get afterwards. And, best of all, it’s 100% organic and sustainable.
